What is your earliest beauty memory?
Going to a department story with my mother in Harrogate. Mum was going to buy some skincare products and as a special treat I received a free facial. Oh the excitement!
What is your beauty routine?
I like to use really simple, natural and wherever possible, plant-based products. Living back in Yorkshire I don’t really wear much make up and with the lovely air I find that my face doesn’t need as much cleansing compared to when I lived back in London. Mornings I simply wash with water and moisturize. In the evenings I cleanse thoroughly and then use eye cream before applying a night cream.
What do you love most about Wild Beauty and why?
I love that everything is not only created from the land (Rhug Estate) but in particular that it is built out of respect for the environment. I also love that Wild Beauty has been created from a small team which demonstrates how much care and attention has been used to make it into a truly exceptional product.
What does organic beauty mean to you?
Organic beauty means the formation of cosmetic products using organically farmed ingredients (without herbicides, GMs etc). It means I can be absolutely sure that what I am putting on my skin is 100% natural and therefore good for me. There are absolutely no hidden nasties. It also means that I can feel a moral conscience when using it.
How important is a healthy lifestyle to you and what do you do to achieve this?
Exceptionally important. Running a lifestyle business myself I know the key to happiness really is being and feeling healthy. As with anything in life there is a fine balance between doing what you deem is good for you but also enjoying life along the way. However, I believe the two very much go hand in hand!
How do you find balance in your life?
Being self-employed, this is something I am trying to work on more and more! Especially in lockdown it is hard to step away from work, however I know it is fundamental to our mental health. When I think of balance I think of those old fashioned weighing scales…too much of one thing and it tips! For me I try to find time in my day for some ‘me’ time, whether that is a walk, run, bath…being in the people business it is too easy to give all your time to others which leaves little for yourself. Spending time with family and friends is also hugely important for me.
What is your wild beauty escape?
Either Cornwall or Scotland – it used to be the former until I discovered Skye earlier this year – it is so mind-blowingly beautiful.
What 3 things would you take with you on that escape?
A good novel, a pilate’s mat and Wild Beauty Rebalancing Skin Tonic with Meadowsweet.
