As today is International Women’s Day, we felt this was the perfect time to introduce you to one of our ‘Friends of Wild Beauty’. Since we launched the brand, we have been delighted to have met so many amazing inspiring women who share our values and ethos: women who are all experts in their own fields and we are honoured to have them as part of the Wild Beauty family.
Today, meet Nadira Tudor, international multimedia broadcast journalist, presenter, host & moderator who specialises in Crisis Communication and Media Relations. Nadira grew up in North Wales, but her life in front of the camera and behind the microphone has taken her all over the world where she has worked alongside the military, reported for mainstream broadcasters from overseas, interviewed numerous celebrities and prominent figures as well as shining a spotlight on a myriad of fascinating people doing amazing things around the world.
We caught up with Nadira to talk about her beauty routine in a life that can mean glamorous events one day and travelling to far flung areas for a gritty interview the next.
My earliest memory of beauty is watching my mother putting on a tiny amount of make-up for an event or family get-togethers. She was very beautiful and all she used was some black eyeliner, face powder and lipstick. I used to love watching her get ready and seeing a minor transformation that made her glow. A memory I will never forget.
In terms of her skincare routine, Nadira favours a “less is more” approach and is keen to point out that beauty is more about enhancement than disguise. Nadira has learnt that good skincare is the key to one’s overall appearance – with good skin you naturally don’t need to apply as much make up.
I have a simple beauty routine, I don’t wear foundation and prefer minimal makeup – I find that if your skin is in good condition, you don’t need a lot of make-up, even with HDTV. My key products are eyeliner, mascara, and some under eye concealer. When I wake up, I usually apply Wild Beauty’s Protecting Day Cream on my face and then apply my make-up. At night, I cleanse and use a warm cloth to remove my make-up and apply the Wild Beauty Restorative Overnight Cream. Once a month, I will use a face mask for a deep clean, but generally I like to keep it natural, low maintenance and simple!
A healthy lifestyle is very important to her and she always prefers to cook using fresh organic produce where possible and tries to apply the same rules to her beauty routine. She stopped using synthetic products a long time ago, preferring to mix her own oils for her skin and hair care.
I do feel that if we can support those who supply us with products that are organic and sustainable, then not only does it help small businesses, but it helps us personally. Most of the time I am able to practice what I believe by thinking just a bit harder about where I buy things from, who I buy from and spreading the word when I come across great suppliers and retailers.
Nadira grew up in North Wales and regularly goes back to visit friends and family. It was on one of those trips that a friend recommended that she try the Wild Beauty collection and she was hooked “They were everything that I believe a beauty product should be. Using the best of nature to make sure that we can preserve the best of ourselves authentically, a promise that many beauty products make but is seldom true. Wild Beauty does what it says it does and I love that! Plus, as an added bonus, the packaging is outstanding.”
Finding balance in life can be difficult for all of us, but with a job and career that can be 24/7 plus family life, Nadira’s challenges can be harder than most when she can find herself double or triple booked for different events. “I have now learnt to say ‘No’ and understand when my body and mind are telling me to stop. I even said ‘No’ to working on Christmas Day for the first time in 6 years! So, life is an ongoing lesson and I am constantly trying and learning”.
Wild Beauty is all about taking time for yourself and indulging the body, mind and senses – we wanted to ask Nadira what her ideal wild beauty escape would be and with who:
We are living in difficult times right now, but I am dreaming of when I can finally get my beauty escapes booked. My main indulgence is having a masseuse/beauty therapist come to my home as I like the privacy. But for now, ‘escaping’ in the comfort of your own home with some fantastic beauty treats is the way forward until I can book a trip away with my kids, my other half and a really good book!
