Winter Skin Woes: How to Combat the Cold and Keep Your Radiance

Between the biting winds, snow, icy rain, and that persistent grey gloom it feels like winter is determined to steal our glow. But fear not, Rhug Wild Beauty supporters! We're not letting this weather dampen our spirts (or our skin!).

Let's be honest, winter can take a real toll on overall wellbeing. The absence of sunlight and the cold air sucking the moisture right out of us, leaving us feeling tight, dry and frankly a bit miserable.

I've pulled together a few quick and easy things you can do at this time of year to help improve your overall wellness:

  • Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Drink plenty of water. Sometimes that is easier said than done, but try to drink between 8 and 10 glasses of water a day. Your body will thank you!
  • Warm showers, not hot showers! Despite what you might think, hot water can strip your skin of its natural oils. Try turning the temperature down a little to let your skin retain those natural oils. 
  • Exfoliate gently! Don't be too rough with your skin. Exfoliators are designed with a coarse substance like the organic sugar in our Body Scrub, so no need to be too vigourous. 
  • Don't forget the SPF! Even on cloudy dreary days our skin can still be susceptible to UV damage. Just as we've always been advised to wear sunscreen on warm cloudy days, in the winter months, and especially when travelling to colder climates, make sure to keep your skin protected with an SPF.

  • Protecting Facial Oil: This luxurious blend of organic oils feels like a warm hug for your skin. It's extremely hydrating and helps protect against the hard winter elements. My favourite thing to do with this product is to wait and put it on after my usual bedtime routine, just before I go to bed. This way it has all night to absorb into my skin leaving me with an incredible dewy glow in the morning. 
  • Protecting Day Cream: Using a moisturiser is the least your can do for your skin at this time of year. This rich and creamy moisturiser is like a cosy blanket for your face. It provides intense hydration and locks in moisture, keeping your skin feeling soft and supple all day long. But most importantly, as it's name states, it protects. This is a staple of my morning skincare routine.
  • Lip Treatment: Let's face it, chapped lips are awful. This lip treatment is a life saver. From someone who has a very bad habit of biting their lips as soon as the slightest bit of dry skin appears, I can assure you that it works wonders. With the key ingredient being being beeswax, it creates a protective barrier over your lips and keeps moisture in, keeping my lips feeling soft, smooth and nourished.
